questions to ask yourself before applying to your first travel nurse job
Are you confident in your skills to hit the ground running after the shortest orientation you can imagine?
Do you meet all the credentials? Most places won’t let you apply without that state license in hand, some will accept if it is in the works. All certifications should be up to date as well including ACLS, BLS, PALS, TNCC etc
Is the rate in the range that’s acceptable for you. Pay rates have been volatile the past few years. KNOW YOUR WORTH. Have a rate in your head that is your minimum and stick to it.
Did you look for places to live? Nobody wants to be stuck in a unknown area where they know nobody and don’t know where they are going to rest their head. Make sure you have some housing options in the area.
Are you comfortable asking for help? You will not learn the protocols and where everything is during orientation so your going to have to ask for help while your on your own
Are you okay with the unknown? Who knows where you will be working after your assignment is up, a lot of anxiety can be created by this thought.
