Are you Struggling at landing a travel assignment?

There seems to be a high need for travel nurses across all specialties, but are you struggling to get the assignment you want?

Are you applying to popular locations? The popular in season destinations will have more applicants and lessen your chance of an offer

Think about it; the more popular a location, the more applications and larger the pool of resumes will be. On top of that housing will be more expensive! For example, if your having a tough time getting a job near the beach in the summer maybe try a less popular destination inland a bit!

Make sure all your certifications are up to date and maybe work on receiving a few extra. Make yourself stick out of a crowd!

Usually hospitals would like you to have ACLS, BLS, and if you’re an ER nurse like me PALS. Make sure those are up to date! It can’t hurt to get a few extra such as ENPC, TNCC, NRP, and others that are applicable to your specialty!

Limit your time off requests.

Facilities will hire someone with no PTO requests over someone who asks for 2 out of the 13 weeks off. Trying to find a summer assignment for me was tough. I wanted to be out west in Montana or Wyoming or near the beach or Acadia National Park. After a few interviews out west and wondering what I was doing wrong to not get offers, finally a manager shared with me it was my time off request. I was requesting two weeks off to drive home for my dad’s wedding which to me is a non-negotiable I was receiving calls for interviews but no offers.

Be open to all shifts and floating.

Remember, us travelers are there to help! You can be picky if you chose just keep in mind you might not get the offer if they ask you for a different shift or you say you aren’t open to floating.
