Rocky mountain national park
Dogs are not allowed on any Rocky Mountain national park trail.
So why bother to bring them? If you’re like me, you feel bad leaving your dogs at home while you go explore the wild. Pets are allowed on paved areas, as long as they’re leashed as well as in your car. This is for the safety of your pet so they do not become prey to many of the wild animals. And for the park, so we can preserve and protect the park in its natural beauty.
What to do with your pet if you bring them to Rocky Mountain National Park? If your pet enjoys car rides, bring them along for the beautifully scenic view along Trail Ridge Road, if its open! There is plenty to be seen from the comfort of your car; many species of wildlife, breathtaking panoramic views, numerous types of vegetation and so much more! You and your pup could also stop at a designated picnic area and have lunch with them and walk along a road to let them stretch their legs!
And the golden rule of hiking; ‘carry in, carry out’ applies to your pet too! So don’t forget the poop bags!
You can purchase biodegradable ones here.
