Why do I travel with my boys?
I can’t even begin to tell you how many times I have been asked why I bring my dogs with me everywhere!
When I rescued Cooper almost 9 years ago now he was a timid, frail, anxious dog. We bonded by spending time together, he came and participated in what was appropriate and safe for him. At the time I lived at my dads house and Cooper was my dog, my responsibility. So when I did things he could come with me, he did! I ended up loving more and more activities that we could do together. From this we both grew into the dog and person we are today. We ran, swam, paddle boarded, kayaked, camped, hiked, hunted, went to breweries, parties, and ran errands together and he would even come with me to work sometimes! To me, Cooper is the best dog I could imagine even with his saltiness that came with his age (he’ll be 13 in May!). The trust we built between us allows me to know he will be the gooiest boy everywhere we go and his expressions show me he is living the best life he can. All I ever wanted to do was give him the best life and in doing that I created the best life for me that I could imagine! I wouldn’t be the person I am today without him. He still comes with me everywhere he can cause to me, he is my child.
Then in comes Chase. I wanted a hunting dog but also wanted Cooper to be around to train Chase into being the 2nd gooiest boy. Chase has a bit more energy but still comes with me and Cooper to do most everything! He’s learning from Cooper and might even listen better now! They both give me the best life I could imagine even if having two dogs in tow makes some things more difficult.
We all like to do the same activities so why would I not bring them!
And with travel nursing, what do people think? I could leave them in my house alone while I was in Maine? Or leave Bennett who just moved into our home with my two dogs?! No way! I’m not myself without my boys and I’d miss them to much!
